The Ford Taurus was reintroduced after the previous full-size sedan, the Ford 500, turned out to be a colossal failure. But after a much needed re-design, the Taurus found its niche as a very roomy and comfortable riding car which could be beefed up with a boosted V-6 engine. The Taurus is one of the most popular vehicles stolen in Michigan, where American cars are all the rage in the chop shops. Last year, 513 brand new Tauruses were stolen.
