The Chevrolet Traverse is a mid-size crossover SUV that has been produced and sold by Chevrolet ever since the 2008 model year. The Chevrolet Traverse is well known for its spacious interior and variety of features, which continue to impress buyers.

With the 2019 model year, the Chevy Traverse will continue to be a top seller and very popular with consumers due to the variety of features and benefits that it provides.

Trim Packages and MSRP

Overall, there are several different trim levels to choose from with the 2019 Chevy Traverse.

Chevy Traverse L Trim

The base trim level is the L trim. With this trim, you can expect to receive the most basic safety and entertainment features. Furthermore, this is the only trim that cannot be upgraded to all-wheel-drive as it comes standard with front-wheel-drive. The base MSRP for the L trim is $29,900.

Chevy Traverse LS Trim

The next trim level up is the LS trim. This trim comes with a few more safety and entertainment features compared to the L trim. With this trim, you will have the option of upgrading to all-wheel-drive. When coupled with front-wheel-drive, the base MSRP is $32,900 for this trim, which then increases to $34,900 for the all-wheel-drive option.

Chevy Traverse LT Trim

For those looking for more interior style, the next trim level up is the LT trim. With this trim level, you will have the option of getting either cloth or leather interior. You will also have the option of having bucket seats instead of a second row. This is preferred by many but does drop the total capacity to seven passengers.

When choosing an LT with front-wheel-drive, the MSRP will be about $35,500 if you choose cloth seats or $39,100 if you choose leather seats. If you choose an LT with AWD, the MSRP will increase $39,200 for cloth seats and $41,100 for leather seats.

Chevy Traverse RS Trim

The top trim for the 2019 Chevrolet Traverse is the RS trim. With this trim, you will get the full suite of entertainment and safety features, leather seats, and second-row bucket seats. The base MSRP for this trim is $45,500 when coupled with FWD and $46,500 when coupled with AWD.

No matter the trim package you choose, the Traverse is considered to be a very comfortable vehicle to ride in. The lower trims come with seating for eight and both the second and third row provide plenty of space due to the Traverse’s wider frame. Plus, it has great cargo space of around 25 cubic feet behind the third row, which is nearly double the space provided in some competing SUVs.

Performance and Gas Mileage

The Chevrolet Traverse comes with the same standard engine option at all trim levels. This is a V6 engine that produces about 310 horsepower, which is much more powerful than the base engine option provided by many other vehicles in the same class. This is also paired with a smooth nine-speed automatic transmission.

When coupled with front-wheel drive, fuel efficiency is 18 mpg when driving in the city and 27 mpg when on the highway. Those that upgrade to all-wheel-drive will see their fuel efficiency decline by about 10 percent.

Entertainment and Safety Features

The 2019 Chevrolet Traverse comes with plenty of features for both entertainment and safety purposes.

Some of the standard features that you will get with all trim levels include the MyLink infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen, six USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Those that are looking for more entertainment features can choose one of the upgradeable packages that include wireless device charging, satellite radio, a rear-seat entertainment system, a larger touchscreen, and a very impressive 10-speaker Bose audio system.

Some of the standard safety features include a rearview camera and the Teen Drive system, which allows you to set certain controls depending on who is driving the vehicle. This can prevent a young driver from driving or accelerating too quickly. There is also a wide range of additional safety features included with the upgraded package. These additional features include a rear camera mirror, forward collision warning, a surround-vision camera, lane departure warning, and blind spot monitoring.

Due to these safety features, as well as a suite of airbags, child safety locks, and electronic stability control, the 2019 Traverse is considered a very safe vehicle to drive. It has continued to receive top ratings from the NHTSA. This includes a five-star overall rating for safety.

All-in-all, the strong engine performance, interior comfort, and entertainment and safety features options help the Traverse compare favorably to other vehicles in the same class. Because of this, the Traverse will likely once again be among the top-selling SUVs in the class with the 2019 model year.
