Hertz is selling almost 200,000 cars as part of its bankruptcy proceedings. If you’re willing to do a little looking, there are some real deals being offered. Even better, these vehicles are nearly new — only used as part of a rental fleet for a year or so.

The rental car giant is selling these cars in an effort to repay US$650 million to creditors. When the pandemic hit, consumer travel basically ceased to exist. It hit the rental car business hard. Hertz was perhaps hit even harder, since they typically purchase their rental fleet instead of leasing it. The used car market had already seen major dips in pricing, as buyer demand dried up. Now Hertz (and some other rental chains) are trying to stay afloat financially by dumping even more slightly used vehicles into the market. That’s good news for anyone still interested in buying.

Despite the average price of a new cars increasing slowly for the past decade, it doesn’t take as much to get into a used vehicle. Factor in the current supply/demand trend, and these used Hertz vehicles are even cheaper. The massive sale involves many low-mileage cars, many of which can be bought for $15,000 or less.

Here are a dozen cars that you could buy from Hertz for between $10,000 and $15,000.

  • Ford Fiesta (2019 model year)—$10,999
  • Chevrolet Cruze (2017)—$13,397
