Ford is delaying the release of its much-anticipated 2021 Bronco. The re-born off-road SUV will have to wait, due to Covid-19 related supplier problems.

The Detroit automaker had originally scheduled the new Bronco for a spring 2021 launch. However, they are now saying the two- and four-door models won’t arrive until the end of summer. The manual transmission version of the Bronco will also have to wait, arriving in late 2021.

Ford did not disclose which specific suppliers are experiencing Covid-19 related issues. Orders for the Bronco were originally set to open on December 7. However, those have now been delayed until mid-January. You can still configure a custom Bronco on Ford’s website — you just can’t get your hands on it yet.

Reserve Your Bronco Today

Reservation holders have until March 19 to finalize their build and dealer selection, agree to a price, and place their order online. Reservations can be made with $100 deposits. Previously the deadline had been January 31.

Broncos equipped with the manual transmission will now move to the 2022 model year, said Ford. The manual Bronco package, called the Sasquatch, includes 35-inch tires, an electronic transfer case, front and rear locking axles, a 1.2-inch lift, larger fender flares, and heavy-duty Bilstein shock absorbers.

This delay does not impact the smaller, crossover-based Bronco Sport. That model is currently arriving at dealerships for the holiday sales period, as originally planned.
