Even before the first official day of summer, most drivers can’t wait to drop the tops of their convertibles to enjoy the sun and beautiful weather. If you’re looking for a convertible to drive away winter woes and welcome the beach heat, check out our list below. We’ve gathered the six best convertibles to enjoy this summer. Which model do you like best?

Here they are, in no particular order:

6. FIAT 124 Spider

We chose the FIAT 124 Spider because it shares similar features with the second model on our list, but with a bit of Italian flair mixed in. For just around $25,440, you too can experience all the fun packed into such a tiny package. The FIAT 124 Spider is capable of 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The interior is designed to complement the smooth ride, with such features as heated leather seating, modern controls, and a cozy cockpit that anticipates your needs. The FIAT 124 Spider is one of the best convertibles to soak up the heat in.

5. Mazda Miata

Perhaps the wilder of the pair, the Mazda Miata offers some of the same features as the FIAT 124 Spider without the composed, stylistic nature. That’s not to say this similarly-priced convertible can’t handle all the curves and switchbacks found on coastal highways and steep mountain roads, though. With a starting price of $25,730 and 181 horsepower, the Miata is built by fun-lovers for fun-lovers. The small but spacious two-seater feels more like a fancy go-kart than a tiny convertible, with its tendency to sprint across the pavement like a spring jackrabbit.

4. Buick Cascada

Call us old-fashioned but there’s nothing like a big convertible to bring back memories of summers past. The Buick Cascada may not follow all family traditions or have the same big-boned structure of its ancestors, but for just over $33,000 you can enjoy a slew of modern creature comforts that make you feel as if you’re sitting in the back seat of a spacious sedan. Buick spends quite a lot of time on their interior appointments and with 200 horsepower at your fingertips — or rather, toe tips — you’ll feel as if you’re speeding along atop an expensive armchair in the Cascada.

3. Jaguar F-Type

Though not necessarily king of the jungle, the Jaguar F-Type is certainly prince of the prowl. Jaguar outfits their sporty soft-top with up to 575 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque for around $72,000 to start. Technicians spent as much time on interior features like high-end leather and luxurious details as they did on the exterior design. The Jaguar F-Type lacks nothing in the technological department either, with a slew of entertainment and safety features to give you peace of mind as you pace up and down the pavement.

2. Chevrolet Corvette

The newest C8 generation Corvette aside, there’s nothing like keeping it cool in a low-slung ‘Vette that is as memorable coming as it is going. With anywhere from 455-to-755 horsepower, a plethora of trim levels, special editions throughout the years, and the title of America’s super car, the Chevrolet Corvette is an iconic vehicle, whether in hard top or soft top version. You might even mistake the interior for an exotic, across-the-pond model if you don’t look too close.

1. Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Roadster

Mercedes-Benz employs many convertibles in their luxurious lineup, but we chose the AMG GT Roadster for the potent mix of horsepower (all 469 units of it), engine configuration (twin-turbo V8), speed (0-to-60 in 3.9 seconds), and overall styling. You can be sure the interior of this road queen exhibits as much prestige and stature as the lines and curves of the exterior panels. The whole thing will cost you nearly $130,000, but can you really put a price on the thrill of pursuing the summer sun as it sets below the horizon?

Soak Up The Sun All Year Round

Owning a convertible can be a great way to enjoy some rays without getting burned. We hope you’ve found this list of the best convertibles to enjoy this summer as exciting as summer vacation used to be. But unlike summer vacation, the fun doesn’t have to end when you own a convertible. After all, that’s why they invented soft tops!
